Pearn's 20 pharmacies sold to Knights for undisclosed sum

Pearn’s Pharmacies, a group of 20 pharmacies located throughout South Wales has been sold to Knights Pharmacy, a 70 strong multiple with branches across England and Wales, for an undisclosed sum.

Pearn's Pharmacies Ltd was established in 1990 when David Pearn bought his first pharmacy in Danescourt, Cardiff. The company grew steadily to reach 20 pharmacies trading in a mixture of community and health centre or health centre adjacent settings in Newport, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, and Swansea and employing over 150 people.

Commenting on the sale, David Pearn said: “After owning and growing this business for all these years, it was vitally important for me to find a company with similar values to my own. I am delighted to be handing the business over to Knights, another family business, which I have full confidence in to maintain the high standards and to serve their local communities.”

Knights was established in 1984. The company’s last major acquisition was in 2017 when it bought Vittoria Healthcare, which had branches in North Wales and the Wirral.

The sale was handled by Christie & Co.
